Hail Smiling Morn

This is our favourite Sheffield carol, which dates from 1810 and was written by Reginald Spofforth of Southwell. This was Number One in our list of Songs we can’t wait to sing when lockdown is over.

It’s unusual for a Christmas carol, since it does not refer to Christmas, the little baby Jesus or even God. It is not the easiest one to learn, but once learnt, you’ll never forget it!
