A Very Belated Goodbye & a Welcome!

Last summer was a time of transition for the Choir, having bid a sad Goodbye to our retiring MD, Liz Nicholas, who has so ably guided us through our various incarnations, since 2008.

We now give a big Welcome to Rob Stonewood as our new leader, and are already enjoying his energy, enthusiasm and musical experience taking us into the next chapter for Carfield Community Choir.

Rob took over the MD role of Carfield Community Choir in August 2025, drawn in by the choir’s commitment to accessibility, camaraderie and most importantly having fun through singing great music! Rob has many years of experience singing a capella, having sung with a range of pop a capella and barbershop choirs over the last 15 years. He is also musical director for Sheffield’s men’s barbershop chorus, Hallmark of Harmony, and sings with the award-winning quartet, The 1234.

Rob is excited about what the future holds for Carfield Community Choir, and loves working with the choir to help them improve as singers and musicians. All this alongside ensuring that everyone can enjoy the sessions, regardless of background, singing experience and their personal singing goals!
